1953 Aston Martin DB 2/4 Mulliner FHC Prototype

Chassis number LML515 is an important historical Aston Martin, being the prototype FHC build by Mulliners on a drophead coupe, by request of an to the attention of David Brown himself

This new model was introduced at the 1955 London Motor Show. LML515 was presented as a Fixed Head Coupé, together with the familiar saloon and Drophead Coupé.

The new model received a lot of attraction and appreciation, and was later to be introduced as a production model on the mk2, and then built by Tickford

 

The car has an unique story, being built for David Brown’s personal use, and later subsequently was turned over to the works experimental department.

In 1955 it was sold to works driver and future World Champion Peter Collins, and during his ownership, it was used under registration number 5341H for publicity pictures of the production Mk2 fixed head coupe, introduced for the 1956 season.

In 1958, a new 3 litre engine was fitted at the factory works: nr VB6J/286. All this is documented.

The registration number was VMF123, and is still on the car today.

The car became the property of his majesty King Hussein of Jordan, the actual registration document still showing his name comes with the car.

 

His majesty King Hussein ordered a full restoration of the car at Bristol Cars limited in London in 1982, and the car was completed on march 21, 1984. This is documented and certified by T.A.D. Crook, chairman and managing director of Bristol Cars at that moment.

In 1994 the car was taken to Aston Martin Lagonda in Newport Pagnell and was completely reconditioned again by their services. All documents and invoices are available.

 

The car is sold with a comprehensive file of restoration documents, consecutive ownership, all yearly MOT certificates back up to 1987, period pictures, documentation and illustrations, instruction book etc..
